Jackson, Presidential Associate Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania and co-Director of the Media, Inequality & Change Center. In this talk, she will introduce her latest book project with a discussion of its primary provocation – that Black media-makers have been central to developing and expanding definitions of equality, justice, liberty, and other founding American values. She will illustrate the arc of interventionist work produced by Black media-makers and consider how these media makers have been at the forefront of cultural and technological innovation.
