Alternative Academic Career Summer 2017 Workshop

We are delighted to announce that UIC Graduate Student, Emily Lacy, has been selected to  participate in the Alternative Academic Career Summer 2017 Workshops  for Pre-doctoral Students.

Emily Lacy, Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy, will join a cohort of thirty graduate students from midwest universities for a three-week program during summer 2017.  The workshop will feature intensive discussions with representatives of public humanities programs, university presses, learned societies, and digital humanities projects.  This third year of Humanities Without Walls Pre-Doctoral workshops is designed to represent a broadened vision for careers in the humanities and serve as a cross-disciplinary engine for the potential reorganization of graduate programs.

The Pre-Doctoral Workshop is sponsored by the Humanities Without Walls Initiative and funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. UIC was invited to nominate one candidate for Summer 2017. The Institute for the Humanities will be able to nominate two graduate students for the Summer 2018 workshop. Applications will be available August 2017.
