Workshop: “You’re Surrounded:” Infrastructure, Blackness, and Racial Capital

Organized by Sabine Mohamed, “Bridge to Faculty” Postdoctoral Research Associate, UIC Department of Anthropology

This workshop will focus on urban environments and how aspects of urbanization/renewal/urban decay intersect with race and capital. The aim of this atelier is a revisiting of black theory, racial capital, and urbanism in the Global South, but also more broadly in the African diaspora and across black geographies.
