The Inhumanities: Knowledges, Bodies, and Extraction

The department of Hispanic and Italian Studies is pleased to invite you to the 10th Chicago Graduate Conference, to be held April 30th-May 2nd, 2026, at the University of Illinois Chicago. The conference is titled The Inhumanities: Knowledges, Bodies, and Extraction, and it will focus on interdisciplinary reflections on catastrophe, resistance, and world-making across literature, art, and cultural production. Our keynote speaker is Dr.Kathryn Yusoff. Dr. Yusoff is a transdisciplinary geographer focused on inhuman geographies and specifically interested in “the role of inhuman epistemologies in race, gender, and subjectivity for more equitable environmental world-building.”
This conference is the product of a collaborative effort among graduate students from the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and UIC.
